Brand Storytelling &
Publicity for Solopreneurs
“I have spent more than 20 years doing PR and marketing. I started out working with some of the biggest brands in the world in South Africa, Boston, New York and London. I won awards. Travelled the world. But like so many women, having children meant making a call about work vs kids. I decided to combine them. I gave up my high flying career and set up my own business working with start ups in the parenting sector. I went from zero knowledge of consumer PR in the UK to winning awards for the results I got for clients. I was featured in books like Kitchen Table Tycoon and Mum Ultrapreneur. I managed to build a successful business, spend time with my kids and even sailed across the Atlantic in a crazy yacht race because you only live once.
After five years, I sold the business as a going concern and took some time out to figure out what it was that I really loved doing. During this process, I had a lightbulb moment – or rather a campfire moment. I was sitting around a campfire, toasting marshmallows and wondering what to do next, when it hit me: I love telling stories. I love spotting the story or big idea in a business. And I love helping to bring that idea to life. What better place to share stories than round a campfire?”
